Atlanta is growing… and AT&T is looking to hire almost 1,000 in the metro area.
Atlanta has been an important city since the mid-19th century. It is also one of the most resilient and determined cities in the country:
• In 1864, the city’s residents were driven from their homes and the city was destroyed
• In 1917, almost 2,000 buildings were destroyed by “The Great Fire”
• Between 1970 and 1990, the city lost over 100,000 residents, over 20% of its population
Despite these challenges, Atlanta emerged as one America’s most important cities.
In 1996, Atlanta hosted the Summer Olympic Games which created a watershed for growth, attracting rising housing prices, a booming economy and new programs focusing on arts and culture.
